PHISON Electronics Corp in Taiwan is being investigated by the authorities there over an allegation that it “cooked the books” of its financial accounts, several Chinese dailies reported.
“Father of the pen drive” Datuk Pua Khein Seng, who is chairman and chief executive officer of the company, was questioned by prosecutors on Friday, China Press reported.
He was later released on a NT$20mil (about RM2.5mil) bail and cannot leave the country until the matter is settled.
Pua issued a statement that he and others had not made any illegal gains from the accounting.
When contacted, Pua hoped he would be given some time to clarify the matter and thanked his friends for their concern.

The incident happened in Wuhan, China, on Friday morning.
The daily reported that the elderly woman, who was diagnosed with aphasia – an impairment in communication skills due to brain injury – was brought to the emergency ward by family members.
After several tests, the doctor sent her for a CT scan.
The nurse told the family to wait a while because there was another patient ahead of the woman.
The man started shouting at the nurse and dared her to repeat her words.
When the nurse again asked them to wait, he attacked her even though she was obviously pregnant.
The nurse was injured on her face and her hearing has been affected. She is likely to suffer a miscarriage as well.
Police have arrested her attacker.
