KUALA LUMPUR: The Minimum Wages Order 2016 that will come into effect today is to benefit workers in the country, said Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

“Hopefully, the increase in income will benefit the workers with a more equitable salary structure besides encouraging higher productivity and more skilled employment,” the Prime Minister said in a Facebook entry yesterday.

Effective today, the national minimum wages for all sectors, except for domestic maids, will be raised throughout the country.

Also to be implemented is one increment and minimum wage of RM1,200 for civil servants in the country. — Bernama
