Civil servants may get an extra day off this Raya

THURSDAY, JULY 14 KUALA LUMPUR- Chief Secretary to the Government Dr Ali Hamsa launches National Blue Ocean Strategy (BOS) International Week at Level 1, East Wing, Perdana Putra building, Putrajaya at 1600 (0800 GMT)

PUTRAJAYA: The Government may allow civil servants to take an extra day off on the third day of Hari Raya.

Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Dr Ali Hamsa (pic) said they might declare July 8 as cuti peristiwa (occasional holiday) for civil servants to mark the festivities.

“It is a bit rare as it has not happened before where Hari Raya falls on Wednesday and Thursday – and the day after is a working day – and then you have the weekend,” he said at a Ramadan get-together with Cuepacs here.

“The Government will consider this and I will bring it up. But, it is not confirmed yet,” added Dr Ali.

If the occasional holiday is approved, it will only apply to states where Friday is a working day.

Hari Raya is expected to fall on July 6 and July 7, which is on a Wednesday and Thursday.
