ABC’s motive was to shame us, says IGP

Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar

KULAI: Australian news network ABC has an ulterior motive behind its serious allegations against Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak in its Four Corners investigative programme, says the Inspector-General of Police.

Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said he had watched the documentary and was taken aback by how the Prime Minister was depicted.

“They wanted to shame Malaysia as well as our Prime Minister in the eyes of the world. Maybe, their journalists have a hidden agenda, after they were arrested in Sarawak recently for trespassing a security barrier during a function attended by the PM,” he told reporters after officiating three police union general meetings here yesterday.

Khalid said Najib was not involved and had no connection with the murders highlighted and bribery allegations made against 1Malaysia Development Bhd.

“The police did their investigations and those involved in the cases have been arrested, charged and sentenced for the crimes they committed.

“I have said it many times before and given my full explanation that the PM is not involved in the cases at all,” he added.
