PETALING JAYA: Datuk Seri Nazir Razak says he is terrified of what lies ahead for the country, and has compared Malaysia's political climate to the plot of popular HBO TV series Game of Thrones.

In an Instagram post on Saturday, the CIMB group chairman shared a poster of the show, showing one of the show's characters standing on a ship deck as it sails into the mist.

"So what lies ahead? The parallels with GoT continue.

"The future terrifies me: I just can't see how our institutions can recover, how our political atmosphere can become less toxic, how our international reputation can be repaired," said Nazir, who is also the younger brother of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

Nazir said there was a need for one to pause, and fix one's moral compass to deal with the current structural problem holistically.

Nazir added that he believes that Malaysia also needed a National Consultative Council.

Game of Thrones is based on George R.R. Martin's epic A Song of Ice and Fire fantasy novel series.
