We’ll fight tooth and nail against terror, says Najib

SERDANG: Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said threats to peace can come in many forms, but he was committed to preserving Malaysia’s harmony.

“As Prime Minister of Malaysia, I can give you the undertaking that we will fight tooth and nail against any form of terrorism and any form of extremism, whether it is religious or racial extremism,” he said during the opening of Wisma Huazong here.

He added that everyone in Malaysia was shaken by the attacks in Jakarta, Istanbul and Paris.

He pointed out that these incidents demonstrated that peace and harmony was a “very precious commodity which we cannot take for granted”.

The only way to preserve Malaysia’s harmony was for all communities to work together to ensure stability and policies based on consensus, Najib said.

The Prime Minister said respecting and believing in each other was vital in ensuring what had been built by past leaders continued into the next generation.

“It is important for us to believe in Malaysia because we have come a long way from where we started, but the journey is far from over,” he added.
