PETALING JAYA: The Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Ministry (KPDNKK) says businesses have to give price discounts to at least 70% of the items in their stores before they can be considered for “cheap sale” promotions.
Last month, the ministry announced new rules for businesses offering sales but noticed that some had read the ruling wrongly.
This followed an online report which stated that the new rules only allowed businesses to organise a sale if their items were given price deductions of 70% or more.
An officer from the ministry said they had been receiving calls asking for clarification
“The correct interpretation of the ruling is that cheap sale (jualan murah) can only be conducted if 70% of the total items sold in the premises are on discount,” the ministry said.
