GEORGE TOWN: Penang DAP chairman Chow Kon Yeow (pic) has openly declared his support to Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng.
This is apparently in response to certain quarters who want him to become the chief minister.
"No matter how the 'parti-parti nyamuk cucuk ('mosquito' parties instigate) Lim Guan Eng', we are still united.
"I support Lim Guan Eng," he said to applause from the delegates at the state DAP convention here Sunday.
Chow accused the Federal Government and Barisan Nasional of stifling the state's growth, saying the state had been sidelined under Budget 2016 and the 11th Malaysian Plan, while very few projects had been approved for Penang.
Lim, in his speech, said DAP would always remain united and not have any leadership squabbles.
"Chow Kon Yeow has supported me as the DAP secretary-general and Penang Chief Minister, while I support him as the Penang DAP chairman and senior state exco member," he said.
