PAS willing to work with ‘the enemy’

KOTA BARU: PAS will work with even “the enemy” as long as it’s within the ambit of Islamic principles.

Kelantan Mentri Besar Datuk Ahmad Yakob (pic) said there was nothing wrong in working on a single platform that would bring good to the people.

“But make no mistake ... our quest to bring down the BN government is still ongoing,” he said after chairing the state executive council meeting here yesterday.

He cited as an example how the Kelantan government worked to address the needs of flood victims last December.

Ahmad was asked to comment on party president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang’s most direct overture on Tuesday that PAS is ready to meet and work with the Barisan Nasional ruling government.

Abdul Hadi, however, said the move was not towards forming a unity government as cooperation between the party and the Government had previously existed.

To an unrelated question, Ahmad said the Kelantan government would allow the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission to investigate allegations that 4,500ha of forest had been given to a PAS crony.

“MACC can investigate the matter, we have nothing to hide,” he said.

An individual named Mohd Afiq Ayob lodged a report with MACC, claiming abuse of power by certain PAS leaders and the Kelantan government.
