RapidKL: Free rides on Ampang Line LRT extension for one month

PETALING JAYA: Rides on the first phase of the Ampang Line LRT extension will be free for a month from Oct 31.

"RapidKL will be offering free rides for one month for those travelling between the four new stations," Prasana group chief executive Datuk Azmi Abdul Aziz said in a statement.

The four stations are Awan Besar, Muhibbah, Alam Sutera and Kinrara BK5.

The second phase of the 11-station extension is expected to open in March 2016, stretching to Putra Heights.

It will link with the Kelana Jaya Line LRT extension there when it completes in mid-2016.

The four stations come after Sri Petaling stop on the Ampang Line.

Riders who want to use the new line will have to get off at Sri Petaling and take the new six-car train sets for the four stations.

Trains at these stations are expected arrive at intervals of under 12 minutes.

A Prasarana spokesman said those coming from other RapidKL stations needed to exit at Sri Petaling if they wanted to enjoy the free rides.

He said riders would then have to get a new ride token and re-enter the platform to ride on trains covering the four new stations.

Riders can also use their MyRapid and Touch n' Go cards on the new line.

Five RapidKL bus routes will be linked to the four stations, namely U73, T418, T504, T419 and T507.
