Man, 36, killed in collision on Johor road


KOTA TINGGI: A local man was killed after being involved in an accident involving two cars at KM68 of Jalan Sungai Rengit-Kota Tinggi.

Kota Tinggi OCPD Supt Yusof Othman said the incident took place near here at 1.50pm on Friday (Aug 28).

“The car driven by the 36-year-old victim swerved, entered the opposite lane, and collided with a car coming from that direction,’’ he said in a statement.

Supt Yusof said the victim suffered severe injuries and was pronounced dead by the assistant medical officer who was on duty at the scene.

He said the other driver, a 50-year-old local male, injured his arms and legs and had been admitted to Kota Tinggi Hospital for treatment.

“The victim’s body has been sent to the Forensic Unit of the hospital for post-mortem,’’ said Supt Yusof, adding that the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

He called upon witnesses or those with information in regard to the incident to come forward to the Traffic Department of Kota Tinggi Police District Headquarters or any nearest police station.
