Cops to take action against former SB deputy director

KUANTAN: Disciplinary action will be taken against former Special Branch deputy director Deputy Comm Datuk Abdul Hamid Bador for his statements to the press, said Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar.

He said a show-cause letter would first be issued to DCP Abdul Hamid to allow him an opportunity to explain his actions.

“I have met with him and we had a long talk. I believe he acted that way due to certain frustrations with his job,” Khalid said after attending the Pingat Jasa Pahlawan Negara conferment ceremony here yesterday.

DCP Abdul Hamid had alleged that there were “certain parties” helping to hide one of the three people who were summoned by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to assist in investigations into SRC Inter­national Sdn Bhd.

His allegations came after he was transferred to the Prime Minister’s Department.

Khalid said he had reminded DCP Abdul Hamid that there were rules in the police force that had to be followed and only certain officers were authorised to talk to the press.

Khalid also said that former IGP Tan Sri Musa Hassan must have forgotten which level of the police force hierarchy had the authority to order transfers.

“Musa has retired for several years now, so he must have forgotten. As the IGP, I command the police force and there are no phantom hands on my left and right,” he said.
