No decision on Chong Wei after lengthy hearing

AMSTERDAM: The wait continues for former world No. 1 Datuk Lee Chong Wei after the Badminton World Federation (BWF) failed to make a decision following a lengthy eight-hour hearing.

A three-member independent panel had heard submissions on Saturday in Lee’s doping violation hearing.

A verdict is expected within three weeks.

Lee, however, said he is just happy that the hearing is over.

“I know everyone wanted to know the result but we have to wait. The panel will make a decision in the next three weeks.

“I am happy with what was presented. We just have to wait. I thank all Malaysians for the support,” he said.

Lee had arrived at the Sheraton Hotel in Amsterdam at 9.24am on Saturday accompanied by BAM general manager Kenny Goh for the hearing.

The shuttler faces a two-year ban for a failed dope test during the World Championships at Copenhagen last August.
