Permatang Pauh by-election on May 7

PUTRAJAYA: The Permatang Pauh by-election will be held on May 7 and nomination on April 25.

"There will be 12 days of campaigning and advance voting will be on May 3, " Election Commission (EC) chairman Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusof said.

He said 71,890 voters were eligible to cast their ballots, of whom 71,252 were normal voters and 626 advance voters.

The seat was declared vacant after Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was disqualified as a Member of Parliament on March 16 when a petition for a royal pardon by Anwar’s family over his conviction for sodomising his former aide Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan was rejected by the Pardons Board.
