Kelantan police chief: Dying woman’s note revealed her assailant

KOTA BARU: A note written by the wife of a police volunteer reserve (PVR) before she died led to the arrest of her assailant at his house in Gua Musang on Sunday. 

Kelantan police chief Datuk Mazlan Lazim (pic) believed the arrest could solve the case. 

"The arrest was made 12 hours after the incident based on a note the victim wrote at the Gua Musang Hospital before she died," he told reporters after handing over contributions to officers and personnel who were affected by the floods in the state here on Monday.

He said based on the note, police managed to track down the suspect, who was staying at the Kampung Tanah Putih housing project, near to the area where the alleged crime occurred.  

He said the suspect, aged 22, had a previous record and was arrested at 3pm. 

In the incident at 2.30am on Sunday, Yashmin Fauzi, 26, was found by her husband Mohd Azrul Isahak, 30, naked, half-conscious, and bathed in blood in front of their rented house in Kampung Batu Papan, Gua Musang. 

Her husband rushed her to the Gua Musang Hospital but she died at 6.40am. 

Mazlan said the suspect, who was jobless and on drugs, was also believed to have taken RM250 from Yashmin's purse before escaping. 

He said the man was remanded for seven days from Sunday until March 8 to help in investigation.  -- BERNAMA
