PSM: Involve Camerons' residents when approving projects

KUALA LUMPUR: Residents of Cameron Highlands must be involved in the approval of new projects and developments if future disasters are to be prevented, said Parti Sosialis Malaysia (PSM) Cameron Highlands branch chief Suresh Kumar.

"There is a concentration of power, in approving a project or the clearing of forest - you just need the approval of the District Officer and the Mentri Besar. There is no public consultation in the decision-making mechanism," said Suresh.
