Chong Wei implicated as athlete who failed drug test

PETALING JAYA: Datuk Lee Chong Wei has been implicated as the "top athlete" who failed a drug test conducted after a major tournament recently.

It was reported on Tuesday that an athlete had failed a drug test, but the name would be withheld pending the results of a second "B" sample.

The athlete was among those randomly picked up for a doping test.

The athlete had been notified of the failed doping test on Oct 1, and submitted a request 16 days later to have the "B" sample tested, a day before the submission deadline.

The athlete was said to be going overseas to observe testing of the "B" sample.

There was no mention of the date when test results of the "B" sample would be released.
