Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim.

SHAH ALAM: Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim will not make any decision on his mentri besar post until Aug 27, when the Selangor Sultan returns from overseas.

He said he had briefed Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah on the latest political developments in the state which included “the sentiments of the state assemblymen”.

He said the Ruler was satisfied that he had the majority support of assemblymen on Aug 11 when he had first approached him on the political crisis affecting the state.

“His Highness has decreed that I do not make any decision or announcement about the mentri besar post until he returns on Aug 27 for me to have an audience,’’ Khalid said in a statement issued last night.

Khalid advised those who had accused him of confusing the Sultan to write directly to the Ruler to seek clarification.

Earlier yesterday, Khalid said the question of dissolving the State Assembly or him being replaced as mentri besar could only be made after consultation with the Sultan.

“Dissolving the State Assembly can be done but it must be upon consultation with the Tuanku,” he said in an event at the state mosque held in conjunction with PKNS’ 50th anniversary.

Asked if there were plans to dissolve the state assembly in November as claimed by sacked exco member Datuk Teng Chang Khim, Khalid said he had no knowledge of such a move.

Teng had alleged that there was talk between Khalid and the four PAS exco members left in the state administration to “drag” the current situation until November when the state assembly was to convene.
