Turtles returning in droves to Penang National Park


GEORGE TOWN: The turtles are returning to Pantai Kerachut at the Penang National Park here with their numbers growing to 190 between 2001 and last year – with eight being the smallest number within a year.

Pantai Kerachut Turtle Conservation Centre chief Mansor Yobe said between 7,000 and 8,000 turtle eggs were laid yearly while 50,200 hatchlings were produced from 81,142 eggs through an incubation process of between 50 and 70 days during the period.
