KEMAMAN: All is well in the Terengganu political saga.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and former Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Said appear to have settled their feud at the wedding reception of Ahmad's daughter here on Saturday.

Najib managed to squeeze in some time out of his busy schedule to attend the reception at Ahmad's residence in Teluk Kalong.

Najib spent over an hour at the reception before rushing off to the United Arab Emirates where he is scheduled for an official visit.

Earlier, Najib had two functions in his home town Pekan, Pahang.

Najib's attendance is seen as a show of reconciliation between him and Ahmad, and the duo were all smiles at the reception.

Last week, the state was put in political limbo when Ahmad and two assemblymen quit Umno, making Barisan Nasional a minority government.

Ahmad was said to be upset that Najib would not allow his removal as mentri besar to be postponed after the wedding reception.

All three assemblymen retracted their resignation 36 hours later after a meeting with Najib where it was said the prime minister and Ahmad apologised to each other.

About 10,000 people attended the reception which was attended by Malacce governor Tun Mohd Khalil Yaakob and and Second Education Minister Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh.

New mentri besar Datuk Razif Abdul Rahman was also present.

Ahmad was in a jovial mood throughout the event as he welcomed guests and even entertained requests for photographs.

Ahmad's second daughter, Nor Ashahirah, tied the knot with Mohd Syahirpaul Redzuan Musa on May 9 at Seri Iman, the mentri besar's official residence in Kuala Terengganu.

Terengganu ruler Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin attended a reception held at the Islamic Civilisation Park in Kuala Terengganu a day later.
