MCA V-P Lee Chee Leong made senator

IPOH: MCA vice-president and former Kampar MP Datuk Lee Chee Leong and Gopeng Umno division chief Datuk Hamzah Mohd Kasim have been made senators.

The voting process was conducted at the Perak state assembly sitting here Friday.

Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir had proposed their names and seconded by Datuk Saarani Mohamad (Kota Tampan-BN).

Lee, 57, the former deputy home minister, and Hamzah, 58, received 31 and 30 votes respectively.

The Opposition members proposed two names - former Lubuk Merbau assemblyman Mohd Zainuddin Yussof and lawyer Nga Hock Cheh. They received 28 votes each with one spoilt vote.
