Kajang by-election: Early voting kicks off

KAJANG: Early voting for the Kajang by-election begun at 8am, Wednesday for a total of 1,197 police personnel and their spouses.

Voting is being conducted at three centres – Haji Ahmad Shah Hall, the Royal Malaysian Police College, Cheras and the Anjung Forensic Hall and Rumah Perkep at the Kajang Police District headquarters.

Polls will close at 5pm today.

The Kajang state seat fell vacant following the resignation of its PKR assemblyman Lee Chin Cheh on Jan 27.

The by-election sees a straight fight between Barisan Nasional candidate Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun and PKR candidate Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.

The Election Commission has fixed March 23 as polling day for the remainder 38,081 normal voters.
