Army helicopter makes emergency landing, all 5 on board safe

BATU PAHAT: A helicopter belonging to the Armed Forces (ATM) was forced to make an emergency landing at a forested area near the Bekok damn here due to technical difficulties.

Batu Pahat OCPD Asst Comm Din Ahmad said that there were four crewmen and a pilot on board the vehicle when the incident took place at around 9.15pm on Thursday.

“None of the officials on board were injured during the incident and the helicopter itself was not damaged,” he said adding that a report was lodged by the pilot which is part of the standard operating procedure when an emergency landing in done.

He added that the group were in the midst of conducting a night flying exercise in the area when the pilot noticed something amiss.

“The area where they landed is a designated emergency landing spot and it is within their training grounds,” he said adding the helicopter involved was an Agusta 109.

ACP Din added that army officials would conduct investigations to determine the cause behind the technical issue.
