Ipoh council worker attacked by 30 stray dogs

IPOH: An Ipoh city council worker suffered a horrific experience when he was besieged by about 30 stray dogs.

S. Muthusamy, 43, suffered a bite to his left ankle during the incident that happened at Bandar Baru Medan, Ipoh, on Wednesday.

Muthusamy, who is a driver, told reporters that he and two officers had gone to the area at 9.30am to set traps for stray dogs.

"We had managed to trap one dog, and I was helping an officer hold the cage open to remove the dog when its barks alerted other dogs.

"About 30 dogs then dashed at me," he said.

Muthusamy said the attack happened so fast that he did not have any time to react or run away.

"I was bitten by one dog before the officer and a few passers-by dragged me to safety.

"A passer-by then called an ambulance and I was given first aid before being sent to the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital," he said.

Muthusamy was thankful that his injury did not require any stitches.
