Estates taken to task for hiring only foreign workers

Makkal Osai reported National Union of Plantation Workers secretary-general Datuk G. Sankaran as saying that they were unhappy with some estate employers who preferred employing foreign workers to locals.

He cited the example of the Lubuk Sekinta Estate employers who initially agreed to compensate 24 local workers and subsequently employ them as permanent workers but instead of doing so after paying the compensation, they employed foreigners.
