KUALA TERENGGANU: Saiful Bukhari Azlan is now a married man as he tied the knot with TV3 newscaster Nik Suryani Megat Deraman, 33, here on Saturday.
Clad in an all-white baju Melayu, Saiful was all smiles after the modestakad nikah (solemnisation) ceremony at the Crystal Mosque at the Islamic Civilisation Park here.
His bride wore a matching all-white dress, sponsored by renowned designer Zang Toi.
The marriage was solemnised by Imam Datuk Ismail Ali in the presence of about 100 guests, made up of mostly immediate family members and close friends.
Saiful, 29, presented RM41,101 in wang hantaran (monetary gift) and nine trays of bridal gifts.
In return, Nik Suryani presented the groom with eleven trays of gifts.
The wedding reception will be held at the Islamic Civilisation Park Convention Centre at 8pm Saturday night.
The couple got engaged on Oct 28 last year.
Saiful is a former aide of PKR adviser Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
He had lodged a police report accusing Anwar of sodomising him on June 29, 2008.
On Aug 15, 2008, Saiful had declared his first sumpah laknat (oath according to Syariah principles) at the Federal Territory Mosque in Kuala Lumpur.
He also recently released a video of him doing the sumpah laknat in Mecca, in which he swore that Anwar had indeed sodomised him.
Anwar was charged with committing the offence but was acquitted on Jan 9 last year.
The prosecution has since filed an appeal, which will be heard on July 22 and 23.
