1Malaysia Penang International Charity Drive concert attracts thousands

GEORGE TOWN: Thousands have gathered at the Han Chiang High School field for the 1Malaysia Penang International Charity Drive.

The organisers, estimating the the crowd to be around 80,000, have opened the gates and allowed people to enter the grounds for free.

They said over 79,500 tickets have been sold and some RM5m collected in donations.

Many came in blue bearing the charity drive's logo, bringing along mats and foldable chairs to sit down on the field.

Among the big acts slated for the night are international stars Busta Rhymes, Ludacris, and Redfoo of LMFAO. Local artistes Ning Baizura and Suchitra kicked off the night before Leon Lai performed two songs.

Other Asian superstars to make their appearance are Eric Moo, Gigi Leung, Grasshopper, Leon Lai, Alan Tam, Hacken Lee, George Lam and Angela Chang.

American dancer and rapper Redfoo will be performing his chart topping tunes "Sexy and I Know It", "Sorry for Party Rocking" and "Party Rock Anthem" which has won several awards before leaving the stage to Ludacris to wrap up the night.

Tickets were sold through donations at RM1 per ticket for the Peace Zone and RM2 for the Unity Zone.
