Ummi Hafilda’s brother makes a statutory declaration

PETALING JAYA: Television personality Azwan Ali has pledged not to commit any more personal attacks against his sister Ummi Hafilda, who has lodged a police report against him.

In a statutory declaration read out at a press conference, he said that “from now on, he would not humiliate, insinuate, insult and commit personal attacks that might bring terrible slander to Ummi”.

It was reported earlier that Azwan had purportedly posted the “threat” on her Twitter account last week. A friend alerted her to the entry before she proceeded to lodge a report at the Taman Tun Dr Ismail police station.

“As a normal person, I admit that I have erred in making an assessment towards her.

“Whatever that I have said before is because I have been influenced by an irresponsible person who has hidden agenda,” Azwan was quoted as saying in the online portal Malaysian Digest.

He also said Ummi Hafilda was not a “vile woman” as has been alleged by her enemies.

He also made another statutory declaration promising his 27,380 followers on Twitter that he would stop tweeting anything that would humiliate, insinuate or insult any party.

Ummi Hafilda was also present at the press conference.

On Tuesday, Ummi Hafilda had lodged a police report against Azwan over a “death threat”.

Sources said Azwan had purportedly posted the “threat” on her Twitter account last week.
