Klang Bus Stand to cease ops

PETALING JAYA: The Klang Bus Stand, one of the city's most famous landmarks, will be closed from Tuesday for the construction of an underground MRT station.

All Klang, Port Klang and Banting-bound bus services operating from the bus terminal will cease operations tomorrow.

The Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD) said in a statement that these services would be moved to Pudu Sentral, formerly known as Puduraya, from Wednesday.

It said passengers heading to Klang, Port Klang and Banting will have to board buses from the allocated platforms at Pudu Sentral.

Bus company Seranas, which operates the Klang and Port Klang-bound bus services from Jalan Sultan Mohamed nearby, would also be relocated to Pudu Sentral on Tuesday.

Specific platforms in Pudu Sentral have been allocated to Cityliner buses plying route 710, Causeway Link buses (route 58K), Seranas (route 99) and RapidKL (route U91).

“These buses will be barred from picking up passengers from any other bus stop in the city centre,” the statement added.

SPAD said Rapid KL buses serving other destinations currently operating from Klang Bus Stand will also cease operations after their last trips on Monday, and will be relocated to bus stops along Jalan Sultan Mohamed the following day.

The affected routes are BET3, U63, U65, U66, U67, U68, U71, U72, U73 and U75.

The new underground Pasar Seni MRT station is expected to be completed in 2016. A new bus station will be located above the station.

“The new MRT station will integrate with the existing Pasar Seni LRT station where passengers can switch from the LRT to the MRT and vice-versa without buying new tickets,” the statement added.

For enquiries, call RapidKL at 03-7885 2585, Cityliner (03-5512 9434) or Causeway Link (07-3602 244).
