Scaling great heights to fight cancer

KUALA LUMPUR: Doreen Wan is climbing Mt Kinabalu to express her gratitude to the National Cancer Society of Malaysia (NCSM) for helping her sister.

Wan, 52, will scale the mountain on Aug 26 and has got 16 others to join the effort to raise funds for the society.

She initiated the Climb of Hope to give back to the society for helping her 67-year-old sister, Alice, who was diagnosed with first stage breast cancer last year.

She said she was also grateful to the society for assisting a good friend Ron Brooks who succumbed to prostate cancer in 2009.
