THE Islamic authorities are in the process of collecting information on all wakaf (endowment) land in the country.

The full data on the ownership and sizes will enable such land to be managed properly, said Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Jamil Khir Baharom.

“According to the latest data obtained from state religious departments from 2005 to 2009, there is 14,690ha wakaf land nationwide valued at RM1.11bil.

“Details on other wakaf land couldn’t be obtained because of on-going legal disputes,” he told Nasharuddin Mat Isa (PAS – Bachok).
