Iraqi doctorate student denies reckless driving charge


NIBONG TEBAL: The Iraqi national pursuing a doctorate degree at Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), who claimed he did not know English or Bahasa Malaysia when he was charged in the Jawi magistrates court here last month, pleaded not guilty Tuesday.

Hamood Shehab Hamid, 45, claimed trial after the charge was translated to him by an Arabic interpreter, Razak Abdullah, a lecturer with the International Islamic University in Kuala Lumpur.
