Nasarudin to explain his move

IPOH: Bota assemblyman Datuk Nasarudin Hashim, who has quit Umno to join PKR, claimed that most of his constituents backed his move.

He said he would go to the ground to explain to them why he had done so.

“Many of them agree with my decision (to defect to PKR). I will go down to Bota to explain to them,” he said after a meeting with Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin at the latter’s office yesterday.

Nizar said Pakatan Rakyat state government would soon host a function at the Bota stadium for this purpose.

On whether Nasarudin should resign and contest under the PKR ticket, Nizar said: “He does not need to because the regulations do not require it. He will remain as Bota assemblyman.

“If he resigns, he faces the risk of not being able to re-contest for the next five years.”

Nizar and Nasarudin reaffirmed that the latter had not been promised any position in the Perak government.
