Dewa 19 ends Malaysian tour with thrilling concert for 5,000

KUALA LUMPUR: An eager and ecstatic crowd of around 5,000 descended on Stadium Negara here yesterday to witness the performance of Indonesian rock band Dewa 19 on the last leg of their nationwide Dewa 19 Malaysia Tour 2007. 

The band was on a five-city tour of Malaysia, which saw them playing at Kota Kinabalu on Dec 15, Kuching on Dec 16, Penang on Dec 17, Johor Baru on Dec 18 and finally Kuala Lumpur last night.

The show in the capital started at 9.30pm and the five-member band consisting of Once (lead vocals), Ahmad Dani (vocals, guitar, keyboards), Andra (guitar), Yuke (bass) and Agung (drums) thrilled the crowd with their energetic show. 

Dewa 19 performed some of their popular tunes for more than two hours in a concert that saw their ardent fans singing along to such songs as Angin, Pupus, Arjuna, Sedang Ingin Bercinta and Dewi.  

Malaysian diva Sheila Majid joined the band for a rock version of her classic song Sinaran, and keyboardist-singer Ahmad Dani did a duet with Sheila on another one of her songs, Emosi

Dewa 19 were also joined by two other guest artistes, Malaysian nasyid group Rabbani and Indonesian singer Mulan Kwok. 

The Dewa 19 Malaysia Tour was presented by Celcom.
