KUALA LUMPUR: The new police CID director will be coming down hard on organised crime.
Ex-Penang CPO Datuk Christopher Wan Soo Kee, who officially took over as director yesterday, said one of the first things he would do was to improve the Crime Investigation Unit.
“This is a very important unit for us, as it is responsible for gathering intelligence on organised and serious crimes.
“I also want to enhance the qualities of the anti-vice, gaming and secret society (D7) division,” he said after his appointment ceremony at Bukit Aman yesterday.

Wan also pledged to improve the quality of criminal investigations by changing the attitude of the personnel as well as enhancing the infrastructure of the force.
“When complainants are not happy about the way their cases are being investigated or that their reports are not being attended to, we should be more professional in addressing their problems,” he said, adding that one of the things he would be revamping would be the delivery system of investigation papers.
He also said that he would be looking into unsolved and high-profile cases and re-evaluate the process of investigation used.
“We need to speed up our investigations and incorporate professionalism in handling cases,” Wan said, adding that he would also look into implementing more scientific methods for case investigations.
