KUALA LUMPUR: An IT-savvy syndicate is sending out the “good news” to unsuspecting phone users via SMS that they have won big bucks in a competition.
The victims eventually find out that it is just a trick to get them to disclose their bank account numbers, which the syndicate would then use to withdraw money or make online purchases.
