Ministers, deputies sworn in


KUALA LUMPUR: Newly-appointed ministers and deputy ministers in Tuesday's Cabinet reshuffle took their oath of office and received their appointment letters from the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Syed Putra Jamalullail yesterday. 

Information Minister Datuk Zainuddin Maidin was the first to be sworn in and to receive his letter at the ceremony held at Balai Rong Seri, Istana Negara.

He was followed by Federal Territories Minister Datuk Zulhasnan Rafique, Tourism Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor and Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Senator Datuk Seri Mohd Effendi Norwawi. 

The six deputy ministers sworn in were Datuk Mohd Johari Baharum (Internal Security), Datuk Wira Abu Seman Yusop (Federal Territories), Datuk Zainal Abidin Osman (Rural and Regional Development), Ng Lip Yong (International Trade and Industry), Datuk Liow Tiong Lai (Youth and Sports) and Senator Datuk Abdul Rahman Suliman (Prime Minister's Department). 

Present were Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, Chief Justice Tun Ahmad Fairuz Sheikh Abdul Halim, Dewan Negara president Tan Sri Dr Abdul Hamid Pawanteh and Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Ramli Ngah Talib.
