KUALA LUMPUR: Know your prime numbers? Find them with the help of the first issue of Star-NiE for 2006 to be published on Wednesday.

Have fun too with “aliens” and establish whether being a square is good or bad in the first issue entitled Numbers, numbers and more numbers! which focuses on maths activities.

The NiE (Newspaper-in-Education) pullouts, published every Wednesday, incorporate newspaper-related activities and games based on the school syllabi for English, maths and science.

Distributed together with the NiE pullout is Stuff@school which kicks off with a Back to School issue. Featuring new resolutions for the new year, this issue also provides students with tips on starting afresh in a new class or new school as well as how to get organised. Students also share how they jazz up their schoolbags to make a statement.

New in Stuff@school this year is the Mind Our English series, which we have included due to requests from teachers and students.

The Star embarked on the Mind Our English campaign five years ago to promote the correct use of English to elevate the standard of the language in the country.

The NiE pullout focuses on English on the first and third Wednesday of every month. The focus is on maths on the second Wednesday and science on the fourth.

It is distributed with every copy of The Star on the third Wednesday and only to schools the other weeks.

Both the NiE pullout and Stuff@school come free with The Star which is sold at a special price of 60 sen per copy for schools.

Schools are reminded to sign up early for newspaper orders. There will be special gifts for teachers who sign up before the end of January.

To sign up and for queries, call Stephen Yap or Rofit Miah at 03 7967 1388 (ext 1038 or 1039) or The Star’s Customer Care Unit at 03 7967 1777 between 9am and 5.30pm from Monday to Friday.
