KUALA LUMPUR: Having spent her young adult life under the spotlight, and courting controversies at times, a visibly happy Ning Baizura turned 30 and looked forward to more birthdays.
“I am happy to turn 30. I love my life and am looking forward to getting those lines and wrinkles on my face.
“My birthday wish is to have a bigger heart because I want to be a better and more generous person.

“I have no regrets and choose to look forward and be happy that I have overcome every obstacle,” she said at her birthday party organised by Competitive Supreme Sdn Bhd, the sole importer and distributor of SsangYong vehicles in Malaysia on Tuesday.
Ning also celebrated her first year as ambassador for SsangYong.
Those present included Ning’s mother Satilah Abdullah, manager Vernon Kedit, Anita Sarawak and husband Mohamad Mahathir Abdullah, singer Zainal Abidin, Adibah Noor, Datin Farida Effendi, SsangYong Motor Company managing director Suk-Ho Lim, and Competitive Supreme managing director Muhammad Fadhil Ahmad and general manager Melvinder Singh.
Ning was also presented with a SsangYong Stavic SV 270 XDi 4WD luxury multi-purpose vehicle.
Anita, Zainal, Farida and Adibah also performed at the party.
Ning achieved a career high when she bagged the Song of the Year, Best Pop Album, Best Album Cover and Best Music Video awards during the recent Anugerah Industri Muzik.
She had matured a lot, she said, and valued the support that she had received, especially from her parents and Vernon.
“I have come a long way and all I want to do is to look after my father and mother. Everything is too good to be true and I have come to my senses. Allah has always been with me,” she added.
She said she had no regrets despite having to deal with past controversies, including the sex fantasy interview she gave to FHM magazine.
When asked about marriage, she said she would love to eventually settle down and have twins.
“I am an old fashioned girl. I still believe in love. I want a man who loves me for who I am and who would love my parents ... someone who can get along with them and Vernon.”
