ELECTION SHOCK: (May 29) The MCA Division elections threw up a good number of upsets, including the defeat of veteran Datuk Yap Hon Pian in Serdang by 88 votes and a mere five-vote win for Deputy Education Minister Datuk Hon Choon Kim in Seremban. Seven of Negri Sembilan’s eight divisions saw fights for the top post. Political observers were right when they predicted that the elections this time around would be one of the most keenly contested in the party’s history.
