Beauty consultant fairest of them all


KUCHING: Beauty consultant Esther Agetha Jitom was crowned Miss Fair and Lovely at the pageant grand final, a highlight of the World Harvest Festival, at the Sarawak Cultural Village in Santubong near here on Saturday night. 

The 24-year-old Bidayuh lass, a favourite among the 14 finalists, also took the Miss Dolphin SMS subsidiary title. 

Agetha, who aspires to be a top model, was richer by RM3,300, apart from collecting other prizes. 

Account assistant Sharifah Roshiela Wan Hashim, 19, who aspires to be a businesswoman, was first runner-up. 

Second runner-up was Fiona John Nolly, 18, who took part in a beauty pageant for the first time. The talented singer will soon launch her first album. 

Business management student Lucy Teo, 20, took two subsidiary titles – Miss Beautiful Skin and Miss Photogenic. 

College student Putik Waninda alias Ling Ling, 19, won the Miss Hollywood Bridal Personality title.  

From Banjar, Indonesia, she is of a mixed Malay and Chinese parentage. 

The evening featured a play, “Wek Jongan” – a legend preserved through oral tradition by the Selako community of Lundu. 

The harvest festival was jointly organised by the Urban Development and Tourism Ministry and Sarawak Cultural Village as a state tourism calendar event.
