POLICE KEEP WATCH: (Feb 13) The police have been told to beef up their presence and enforcement in public places where foreign workers normally gather during public holidays to ensure that no untoward incidents occur. Deputy Home Minister Datuk Tan Chai Ho said it was necessary that there be police presence at these areas to provide a sense of security to locals.

D-DAY: (Feb 14) Feb 28 was declared D-Day for the remaining 400,000 illegal immigrants in the country. From March 1, the Government will arrest illegal workers, charge them in court and deport them to their home countries. Home Minister Datuk Azmi Khalid said this amnesty would be the last as the Government had given enough opportunities for illegal immigrants to return home without being tried in court.
