KUALA LUMPUR: Newly appointed Deputy Inspector-General of Police Datuk Musa Hassan is set on improving investigation skills and effectiveness of the force.
“Personnel would be sent for courses and training to ensure they are equipped with knowledge related to their fields of expertise, especially in dealing with sophisticated issues such as cyber crime.
“I also hope to speed up the investigation process and enhance our efficiency to serve the public well,” said Musa.
In thanking the Government and the Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohd Bakri Omar for his promotion, Musa pledged to do his best to reduce the crime rate.
Musa said police would beef up patrols at crime-prone areas as well as increase crime prevention operations in order to achieve their goal of reducing crime rate.
He added that the force would also be tenacious and uncompromising in their battle against illegal activities.
The 54-year-old Musa, the former Federal police CID director, took over from Datuk Seri Mohd Sedek Mohd Ali yesterday.
A handing over of duties ceremony, witnessed by Bakri, was held at the Officers’ Mess in the federal police headquarters, Bukit Aman.
He said last year’s crime rate increased by 0.4% compared with 2003 but only in a few categories.
He added the crime cases that had increased were vehicle thefts, rapes and murders while others showed a significant drop.
