Tan Sri Syed Mokhtar Al-Bukhary has a reputation for shunning the press, preferring to let his associates do the talking. But over the past week, the 52-year-old tycoon has met the press twice to talk about his charitable work and his plans to buy a block of strategic shares in DRB-HICOM, which pitted him against the influential consortium of Tan Sri S.M. Nasimuddin Amin. WONG CHUN WAI met up with Syed Mokhtar late on Thursday night.

IT was almost 11pm when Tan Sri Syed Mokhtar Al-Bukhary walked into the meeting room of a hotel business centre, where the interview was to be carried out.
