KUALA LUMPUR: Auditors are watchdogs not bloodhounds, a former corporate director of Perwaja Steel Sdn Bhd said at the CBT trial involving ex-managing director Tan Sri Eric Chia Eng Hock on the second day of the hearing here, yesterday.

Lawrence Lim Chiang Cheah, 54, testified that he was unaware if an amount of RM76.4mil paid to NKK Corporation Japan under Chia’s instructions was reflected in the 1994 external auditor’s report of Perwaja Rolling Mill and Development Sdn Bhd.
