IPOH: For retired school teacher Mydin @ Mohidin Idroos, 62, The Star’s “PC for the non-PC Savvy” workshop has managed to do the near impossible.
It has turned him into a computer “convert” overnight.
“I used to work in a computer store selling printers, motherboards and other things and even then I wasn’t interested in learning how to use a computer.
“Now I find that I like it. I might even end up getting a computer for the house,” said Mydin during the workshop held at the Informatics Institute here on Sunday.
It was the first time the workshop, which is part of The Star Learning Skills 2004 programme, was held in Perak.
Mydin, who lives with his wife in Parit Buntar about 80km from here, was also one of the three lucky participants to take home a Lexmark colour printer each in a special draw.

Retired English lecturer Chin Wai Hin, 69, the oldest among the 37 participants, said he wanted to learn how to use the Internet so that he could e-mail his five children and several grandchildren.
Lexmark Asia Pacific Corporation sponsored the printer prizes.
