PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Trade Union Congress (MTUC) has raised several issues for the immediate attention of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, including the automatic recognition of unions by employers, minimum wages and the proposed National Retrenchment Scheme (NRS).
Congress president Zainal Rampak said the Government should amend the Industrial Relations Act to ensure speedier recognition of unions by employers and to prevent union-busting activities.
