LANGKAWI: The Sri Muniswaran temple committee was given over four months' notice to relocate the temple but its refusal to compromise forced the Langkawi Municipal Council to demolish the premises last Wednesday, said council president and district officer Rusli Basir.
The committee, he said, had erred on two counts – having the structure on government land, an offence under Section 365 of the National Land Code, and failing to obtain approval from the relevant authorities for the temple’s expansion.
