All for one skeleton

A statue of d’Artagnan stands in a park in Wolder, which sits on the outskirts of Maastricht, Amsterdam. Wolder, near the Belgian border, is waiting to see if the skeleton it dug up in a church is Count d’Artagnan, from Alexandre Dumas’s tale. — Ilvy Njiokiktjien/The New York Times

THE postcard-perfect Dutch village of Wolder was set aflutter this year when local volunteers made a thrilling discovery in St Peter and Paul’s Church, which for centuries was rumoured to be the final resting place of the fourth musketeer from Alexandre Dumas’ famous story.

There was a skeleton under the heavy grey stones of the chapel floor.
