Mobilising the Malays: Unity, or more of the same?

Malay unity is again being politicised. — The Star

WHEN Tun Dr Mahathir Mohammad announced the formation of the Sekreteriat Orang Melayu last month – a “new” political platform uniting PAS, Bersatu and Tun himself – it was framed as a response to a familiar problem: that the Malays are fragmented, under siege, and in need of political unity.
